Communicating With Your Camper


We recognize that more than ever our culture relies on digital connection, especially via smart phones and other Internet connected devices. To help create the best experience, our camp will be a phone and internet device free environment.

The heart behind this recommendation is to help our campers:

• be free from distraction.

• have a chance to unplug (kids and teens need this too!)

• bond with friends and Small Group Leaders at camp.

• reduce homesickness and the need to feel connected to things happening back at home with family and friends.

However, we understand that each family and each camper has unique needs. We want to honor those needs. If you feel that your camper needs to have access to a phone during camp please talk with us ahead of time.

Emergency Contact Info

If a family emergency arises and you need to reach your camper, please contact our Emergency Hotline (number will be provided at camp check-in). In the event that your child is injured or becomes ill while at camp parents and/or guardians will be contacted as soon as possible. We will have nurses and other medical professionals with us at all times to aid in assessing and addressing any illnesses or injuries.

Sending Letters

We definitely encourage parents and other close family and friends to send letters along with students as they go to camp. Given that we are only at camp for a short period of time, we would prefer that you actually send the letters with your camper in their luggage as opposed to trying to send them in the mail. Use these letters to let your child know that you are praying for them or just to say, “I love you!”

The Hillside App

We also want to make sure that parents and families are able to stay in touch with what is happening at camp. We are expecting God to move in amazing ways. To stay connected, download the “Hillside Christian Church” App and go to the Events section.

Medication Card

If your student needs to take medication during camp, please print out our camper Medication Card. A completed Medication Card is required for all medications sent to camp. Please remember that all medications (both prescription and OTC) must be in their original containers. Ensure that the Medication Card is completed, signed, and enclosed with your camper’s medication in a resealable baggie. All medication and the Medication Card will be turned over to the Camp Nurse when your camper checks-in.

What happens at camp?
With Hillside, camp is all about fun, faith, and friends. Students will be challenged in their faith with dynamic speakers, equipped small group leaders, and powerful worship experiences.

Why should I send my child to camp?
We believe in camp. We believe that the changed-lives that happen at camp catapult students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Camp will allow your student to have fun, build relationships, and experience the love of Jesus.

Where is the group staying?
We are staying in dorms at Glorieta Camps.

What are the travel arrangements?
We have chartered buses and vans for the trip. We will transport everyone to Glorieta and will also all return together on the chartered vehicles.

Can my child invite friends? What if their friends don’t attend Hillside?
We love it when our students invite their friends – especially if they don’t attend church at all. We do our best to make sure friends are grouped together for the week. So be sure to have guests mention that they’d like to be placed with your student when they register. We’ll do what we can to make that happen.

Camp Scholarships Available
Some financial assistance is available for those in need. Applying for a scholarship does not guarantee that you will receive assistance.
